Washing and Ironing the Baby Clothes

Most of the mothers know how important it is to choose the right clothes for their babies and how important it is to dress them up properly. In order to do this, they also have to iron their clothes because otherwise, they look very clumsy and this is not good, because they need to leave a good impression starting with their very first days. Mothers should also use high quality detergents, which are specially created to protect the baby’s skin, which is very sensitive to all the substances around them. Sometimes, even if they know these things, they are too tired or too busy to iron the baby’s clothes.

It is good to iron the baby’s clothes not only from aesthetic reasons, but also from reasons which have to do with their hygiene. High temperatures kill the viruses and dirt on their clothes, ensuring the baby the protection they need from different kinds of illnesses and infections. Generally, baby clothes should be washed with detergents made for washing clothes at about thirty or forty degrees Celsius, so it may be possible that not all viruses are destroyed or killed. Not to mention the fact that babies get a lot of bacteria when they are young because their immune system is not very highly performing or not very strong.

The baby’s clothes should always be stored in a basket before putting them into the washing machine. A lot of mothers wash their clothes separately, so that they don’t get in contact with the different viruses on the parents’ clothes.

How to Organize Baby Clothes

When I first found out we were expecting twins, I had no idea how we were going to able to afford enough clothes for both of them! Two baby showers later, I had more baby clothes than I knew what to do with, and I was struggling with trying to find somewhere to organize everything.

I received as gifts many different sizes of baby clothes, from newborn all the way to toddler. Friends and family members who found out we were expecting also gave us many nice hand-me-downs. I quickly realized I wasn’t going to have to buy any clothes for our boys for quite some time! After looking over all the clothing, I decided it would be easiest to organize the clothes by sizes.

I first washed everything and sorted all the clothing by sizes. I then went to Walmart and bought some very inexpensive large plastic storage containers to store larger sizes.

The boys have two dressers in their bedroom. I filled one dresser with newborn size clothes, and the other dresser with size 3-6 months. I then labeled three plastic storage containers 6-9 months, 9-12 months, and 18-24 months. After sorting all the clothes I organized the storage containers on a shelf in the bedroom closet. Now whenever I get new clothing I can go right to the storage container with the correct size. This system has made it very easy for me to see what I have on hand and what I still need to buy.

Funny Clothes for Baby

If adults are allowed to have an attitude and flaunt it through their clothes, can babies be far behind? Today’s trendy parents want trendier babies dressed in clothes that make a statement. And humor is an essential part of what is cool, hip and in.

There is a whole industry that caters to funny baby clothes. There is, however, nothing funny about the garments themselves — they have to be comfortable, functional and skin-friendly, as per the standards. It is the writing on the wall – in this case, the clothes – that makes them funny!

Visualize a baby boy wearing a perfectly ordinary top carrying a message, “”If I can reach it, I can wreck it.”" Or think of a pretty little girl blinking innocently, while her tee shirt announces, “I cry only when cuddled by ugly grown-ups.” A baby being fed lovingly by its mother might carry the warning, “I spill at will” on its bib. Now, that is funny!

The craze for funny baby clothes has spawned an entire clothing segment that deals specifically with emblazoning baby clothes and baby accessories like bibs, caps and hats with funny messages. It does not matter that the babies themselves may be too young to read the deadly one-liners – what does matter is that a funny style statement has been made.

Fortunately, it is not too difficult to look for clothes with an attitude – unlike designer baby clothes, they are easily available, and, as many parents believe, much more chic and affordable.
